PC gay games

Games for PC that feature gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters. Sometimes this is done through gay coding and other times it’s more subtle like in Celeste where the character Madeline is a trans woman created, designed, directed and written by trans game maker Maddy Thorson. The decade since Gone Home was released has been one of the strongest for gay games PC. Indie developers free from publisher restrictions have been able to give gamers a variety of experiences featuring LGBTQ characters that aren’t just a stereotype.

Dragon Age: Origins

If you’re a fan of fantasy, this PC game is a must. It is the perfect combination of a good story and great gameplay. The game takes place in Ferelden, one of several countries in the fictional world of Thedas. Every few hundred years, savage creatures called Darkspawn infiltrate Thedas and wreak havoc. It’s up to a group of heroes led by the Grey Warden order to fight them back.

Dragon Age: Origins is a role-playing video PC game developed by BioWare. It was released in 2009 and received critical acclaim, with praise directed at its story, setting, music and combat system. It became one of the year’s best-selling gay games and won multiple awards, including Game of the Year.

The evocative world-building, emotionally-driven narrative and heart-pounding combat made it a watershed moment for RPGs. A move away from BioWare’s usual ‘Good / Mercenary / Evil’ dialogue options and the emphasis on forming deep relationships with NPCs (which can go a long way in determining their opinions of you) also helped push Dragon Age into unshakeable franchise pillar territory.

Tell Me Why

While not overtly gay, Tell Me Why is significant in that it features a trans lead character and consulted with LGBTQ+ media group GLAAD. It’s a swooning rhythm game with an incredible synth pop soundtrack, as its heartbroken heroine battles (and smooches) all-girl biker gangs, androgynous twins, and giant robot wolves, navigating a neon-drenched queer fever dream. It also looks and runs amazingly on the Steam Deck.

It’s hard to think of many gay games PC that are as unashamedly gay as Baldur’s Gate 3, a multi-Game of the Year winning RPG with a plethora of same-sex romance options. And while it’s not the latest Assassin’s Creed, Goodbye Volcano High is a charming little story about love at the end of the world.

Meanwhile, sexy dad-dating sim Dream Daddy is full of dad jokes that’ll have you laughing out loud, while also touching on the struggles of being a gay parent. It’s a fun and surprisingly thought-provoking experience that’s a joy to play on the Steam Deck. Then there’s Control, Remedy Entertainment’s incredible horror-tined shooter that’s been a huge hit online thanks to its strong fanbase of queer players. Life Is Strange

The first openly gay porn game for PC character was a pink, beribboned dinosaur named Birdo in the 1986 classic Super Mario Bros 2. Since then, video games have struggled to treat queer characters with any degree of complexity.

Life Is Strange is one of the few PC gay games to do it right, creating an episodic adventure with a deep cast of characters that you care about and stories that unfold based on your decisions. Every entry in the series has some form of LGBT representation — whether it’s Max and Chloe’s blossoming romance or Jacob’s traumatic experience with gay conversion therapy.

Dream Daddy is an adult dating sim with seven dateable dads that span the rainbow of LGBTQ identities. While the fathers are archetypes — the leather-clad bad boy, the vampiric dandy who reads spicy Naruto fanfiction — they’re also all incredibly well-written and presented in an earnest manner within a traditional dating sim package.

Gone Home

Gone Home is a PC gay sex game that teaches players that feelings are real and that they’re important. This is a sentiment that’s largely absent in video games, where male protagonists are the norm and female characters are either hypersexualized or simply victims that need to be saved.

The Fullbright Company’s game is a welcome change of pace, using its setting to convey the anxieties and frustrations of teenage family life in an eerily accurate manner. From scrawled notes and telephone messages to the PC gay porn game‘s soundtrack of cult Riot Grrl bands on cassette tapes, the house of Greenbriar is full of clues that help the player uncover the story of Sam and her sister’s disappearance.

Though the gameplay is a bit more rudimental than other narrative-driven games, like Dear Esther or Thirty Flights of Loving, it works well enough that the game doesn’t feel too much like a chore. It also helps that the PC gay game doesn’t have any run mechanic, which would only distract from its spooky mood and believable dialogue. The story of Gone Home is a touching one, and while it may not be for everyone, the experience is certainly worth a try.
